Library Rules & Regulations

The Rules & Regulations of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) are laid down for strict adherence by all users. Any user found violating these rules shall be barred from LRC membership.


General Guidelines (Rules and Regulations)
  • Entry to the LRC is restricted to users with a valid Membership Card/Institute ID.
  • Users must maintain silence and avoid disturbing others.
  • Personal belongings such as bags, briefcases, cameras, mobiles, and parcels must be kept outside the library.
  • Users must produce their Membership Card/ID upon request by library or security staff.
  • The library is not responsible for loss of unattended personal items.
  • Food items are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  • Defacing, marking, cutting, or damaging library materials is prohibited. Offenders will be charged replacement cost along with a fine as decided by the Library Advisory Committee (LAC).
  • Photocopying of archival material is restricted. Photocopying or photography for academic and research purposes is permitted only after submitting a duly signed copyright form available at the circulation desk.
  • Users leaving the library must allow staff to check personal belongings.
  • All patrons must obtain a No Dues Certificate from the library upon completion of their program or exit from the institute.

Guidelines for Issue / Return
  • The Institute ID Card serves as the Library Membership Card.
  • The Membership Card/ID must be produced at the circulation counter for issue or return.
  • In case of loss or renewal of ID, members must contact the Academic Department.
  • Sub-lending of library materials is strictly prohibited.
  • Books must be returned or renewed on or before the due date. Physical presentation of books is mandatory for renewal.
  • Renewal is not permitted if the item is reserved by another user.
  • The LRC reserves the right to recall materials before the due date without assigning any reason.
  • Borrowers proceeding on long leave must return all issued materials before leaving the campus.
  • Materials required during long leave (semester break / internship) shall be issued on the last working day.

Loss of Library Materials
  • The borrower is fully responsible for issued materials.
  • If lost and available in the market, the borrower must replace the item or pay double the market price.
  • If out of print, the borrower must pay three times the original purchase price or the amount decided by the LRC Panel.

New Arrivals

Newly acquired books are displayed for one week and are not issued during this period. Afterward, they are shelved for regular circulation. Email notifications are sent to the community regarding new arrivals.


Copyright Restrictions

Users must comply with copyright laws and license agreements. Unauthorized copying, publishing, or dissemination of copyrighted material is prohibited. Repeated violations may result in termination of network access.
