Students' Academic Council
The Students’ Academic Council is a student-elected independent body that serves as the bridge between students, faculty, and the administration in all matters related to academics. Comprising five senior members (including the Academic Secretary, who represents the body in the Students’ Affairs Council) along with one junior representative from each first-year section, the Council works to ensure a seamless and conducive academic environment for the student community.
The Council is responsible for facilitating smooth and effective communication between students, the PGP Office, the PGP Chairperson, and the faculty. It acts as the voice of the student community on academic matters and plays a key role in addressing any issues related to academics, including attendance, examinations, academic logistics, and classroom concerns. The Council also ensures that students’ feedback and concerns are communicated to the faculty and administration whenever required, thereby enabling continuous dialogue and two-way feedback.
In close coordination with the PGP Office, the Academic Council contributes to freezing the academic calendar and ensuring that all academic-related processes function efficiently. It also oversees and facilitates the electives selection process by coordinating with students and identifying courses that are relevant and valuable in the contemporary context. Additionally, through a network of Subject Representatives, the Council creates an enabling ecosystem that supports students in achieving their academic goals during their time at the institute.
