IIM Visakhapatnam Hosts 10th Annual Convocation, Celebrating Academic Excellence

The Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam proudly hosted its 10th Annual Convocation, marking a significant milestone in its journey of academic excellence. A total of 665 students graduated this year, in a grand ceremony attended by distinguished guests, faculty, and proud families.

The event commenced with the Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG), Shri Hari S. Bhartia, formally declaring the convocation open. Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, presented the Director’s Report, highlighting the institution’s remarkable growth over the past decade. He emphasized key achievements including the expansion of academic programmes, strengthening of research output, deeper industry and policy engagement, and growing international collaborations, alongside a continued focus on innovation and academic excellence. 

Addressing the gathering, Shri Hari S. Bhartia congratulated the graduating students and acknowledged the contributions of faculty and staff in shaping future leaders. He also spoke about India’s dynamic innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem, highlighting the opportunities it presents for young graduates. Emphasizing the impact of emerging technologies such as AI, he noted that today’s generation has the ability to learn faster and build faster than ever before. In his concluding remarks, he encouraged students to focus on the quality of their thinking, the courage of their choices, and the integrity with which they act. 

The highlight of the event was the Convocation Address delivered by the Chief Guest, Ms. Zarin Daruwala, Group Chief Executive Officer, PL Capital. Drawing from her professional journey as CEO for India and South Asia at Standard Chartered Bank and President and Head of Wholesale Banking at ICICI Bank, she encouraged the graduates to embrace feedback in a positive spirit, and to cultivate humility and a solution-oriented mindset. She also urged them to never compromise on ethics and values as they navigate their professional paths.

Degrees were awarded to 342 MBA, 163 EMBA, 40 Executive Post-Graduate Diploma Program in Management (EPGDPM) Batch-1, 62 MBA Post-Graduate Program in Management for the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions of National Importance (PGMCI) Batch-1, and 57 Diploma in Management (PGPMCI) graduates, along with a Ph.D. scholar.  

Among the top achievers, Aryaki Sanjay Pathak secured the First Rank in the PGP programme and was also awarded the Vani Row Memorial Gold Medal for being the top-ranking female student. Samruddhi Mangrulkar secured the Second Rank in PGP and was also recognized with the Best All-Round Performance Award. In the EMBA programme, Mahabir Ghosh and Sonam Gupta secured the top ranks. Sushil Singh Chouhan secured the First Rank in the PGPMCI (MBA) programme, while Jamini Ranjan Mahapatra topped the EPGDPM programme.

Merit certificates in the EPGDPM programme were awarded to Amit Kumar for Term 1, Ram Murari Dwivedi for Term 2, and Jamini Ranjan Mahapatra for Term 3. In the PGPMCI-DBM programme, Ananya Verma secured Rank 1 in Term 1, while Shama Pradeep Kamble secured Rank 1 in both Term 2 and Term 3. The Director’s Merit List for PGPMCI-DBM included Ananya Verma, Sakshi Bhakhar, and Shama Pradeep Kamble.

The convocation concluded on a note of pride and optimism. IIM Visakhapatnam reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing future leaders equipped with knowledge, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose to contribute meaningfully to society.
