Admission Process for the year 2027

This document outlines the detailed information about the eligibility criteria, selection process, and application procedures for the Post-Graduate Program in Management for the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions / Institutions of National Importance (PGPMCI) at IIM Visakhapatnam (IIMV). In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the IIM Visakhapatnam has started this program in collaboration with National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NIT Warangal), Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kurnool (IIITDM Kurnool), Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, Visakhapatnam (IIPE Visakhapatnam), National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh (NIT Andhra Pradesh), National Institute of Technology, Manipur (NIT Manipur). Now on, these institutes will be referred as Participating Technical Institutions (PTIs) in this document.

From the 2027 admission cycle onwards, IIM Visakhapatnam invites all eligible Centrally Funded Technical Institutions and Institutions of National Importance to enter into a formal MoU with the Institute and become Partnering Technical Institutions of PGPMCI. This expands the institutional partnership framework, which was earlier focused primarily on NITs, IIITs, and a few other select institutions, to include IITs, IISc, IISERs, SPAs, NITTTRs, NERIST, SLIET, NIAMT, GKCIET, and other eligible CFTIs/INIs.

Any eligible institution entering into an MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam during the admission cycle will be added to the list of PTIs. Eligible current B.Tech., M.Tech., B.Arch., and M.Arch. students of such institutions may apply to the programme in accordance with the applicable admission rules.

The requirement of an institutional MoU applies to current students. Eligible recent graduates from all CFTIs and Institutions of National Importance may apply to the programme irrespective of whether their institution has an MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Note: Effective from the 2027 admission cycle, B.Tech/B.Arch and M.Tech/M.Arch graduates (alumni who graduated from the current or immediate past academic year) of CFTIs or INIS listed here are eligible to apply for the PGPMCI program even in the absence of a formal MoU.

Eligibility Criteria:

There will be two modules in the program. Below are the eligibility criteria for both the modules.

Module-1: Diploma in Business Management (DBM)

Category 1: Students from PTIs having MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam

• Undergraduates: 2nd, 3rd, 4th Year B.Tech/B.Arch Students of PTIs
• Post-Graduates: Any Semester M.Tech/M.Arch Students of PTIs            

(OR)

Category 2: Recent Graduates from CFTIs/INIs* without  MoU with IIM Visakhapatnam

• B.Tech/B. Arch. graduates 
• M.Tech/M.Arch. graduates 

from CFTIs/INIs who have graduated in:

•  the current academic year (2026); or
•  the immediately preceding academic year (2025)

Applicants must have secured admission into their respective technical programs through a recognized national-level entrance examination, with a valid score/mark as defined by the respective examination authority at the time of admission.

Satisfy the following cut-off percentages (GPA) criteria with respect to their category will be eligible for the further admission process.

*Percentage equivalent of Grade Point Average (GPA) will be reckoned as follows for admission:

• For eligible students: GPA as of the end of the latest semester for which results were declared by the PTIs.
• For eligible Alumni: GPA calculated from all graded semesters of the immediately preceding degree examination at the PTIs/CFTIs/INIs.

GPAs will be converted to equivalent percentages as per the norms of the respective institutes.

Application Process

Here is a step-by-step guide to the application process:

Call for Application: The call for applications will be announced in the month of August 2026. You can find the notification on the official websites of IIM Visakhapatnam.

Online Application: To apply, you must complete the online application by filling in the required information. Below is the respective application portal link for your reference. Applicants from all categories are required to pay a nominal fee of ₹250/- (non-refundable) for the application form.

Selection Criteria:

To ensure a fair and transparent selection process, we have established the following criteria:

Online Application: All applicants are required to submit an online application form along with a Statement of Purpose (SoP) and the necessary supporting documents.

Aptitude Test: The Institute, in collaboration with PTIs and/or a reputable third-party agency, will conduct a proctored online test to assess all the eligible participants.

Note: Candidates who have the valid test score of either CAT/GRE/GMAT will be exempted from appearing in the PGPMCI Aptitude Test.

Preparation of Merit List for Final Selection: The merit list for final selection will be prepared based on the following criteria:

(*) In order to promote Gender diversity in the cohort, an additional score will be awarded to Female and Transgender candidates.

(#) Candidates should have valid test score to be considered for Admission.

Based on the requirement, once the application submission phase is completed, IIM Visakhapatnam will assign score to each candidate’s profile. Based on the score it will roll out the admissions offers.

We encourage all eligible candidates to review the admissions process carefully and apply within the specified timelines. Please note that if a candidate fails to submit the online application form within the specified timeline, they will no longer be considered for admission to the PGPMCI for the batch of 2027-29 at IIM Visakhapatnam.

Any dispute concerning Admissions for the PGPMCI program would be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts within the territorial jurisdiction of the city of Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) only.
